The theory behind Sarejessian Theology – Why Christians should Pray – James 5:13-16

This document is part one of the series Sarejessian Theology

Part 1 First examination of the book of James
Examine the evidence; review believe

Today I will begin to write on a new category of interest that I will call the practical application of Christian faith based on the bible (The Christian standard.)

The book of James in the New Testament is packed with practical advice to Christians on how to live their lives.

The book deals essentially with the way Christians should act towards each other and practical advice on the use of the tongue.

The bible tells us that by their fruit they shall be known (The tongue is the most powerful weapon known to man because it is the organ that serves as the second main feature of our vehicle of communication the first been our heart (Spirit) & brain. For without a heart to feel and a brain to reason our tongues would serve no purpose.

The Following main elements of the book of James are
Actions,
Faith
Prayer
Power of the spoken word
Confession
And an ability to guard our tongues as Christians.

The next few weeks I will reflect and write on the book of James

Today’s Scripture is James 5: 13-16 (The emphasis been on the following statement.

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Jas 5:13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

Jas 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

Jas 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Jas 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Prayer.
Prayer can be divided into various categories including but not limited to
p.1) An urgent application (just as one would do when applying for a judgment to be set aside in the supreme court.) / supplication to the Almighty dependent on the need, desire, of the person or group of people praying’s heart’s desire.
P.2) Prayers of thanksgiving for prayers answered.
The answer to prayer   might not always be yes, right now, it could be later (which teaches us to wait for God’s time, patience.) or no my child I know what is good for you I cannot as your Lord and Father give this thing to you.
P.3) Prayer is not your heavenly bargaining council the Lord will not be negotiated with He is the Lord he does not change his mind. (The only time that God change his mind is when a lost soul prays the prayer of repentance and accepts Jesus Christ as Lord, savior and King and center of their lives. Prior to this God cannot answer a person who has not met the conditions above prayer because it is like me a South African asking the American President for a personal favor. It won’t happen because there is no allegiance on my part or responsibility on the presidents’ part. Thus if a person is not born again (No allegiance to God) asks God (no responsibility on God’s part to the person asking other than to wait until that person is born again.) This also applies to the great judgement at the end of human time when everyone born will be judged according to their works God is not a man he does not change his mind ever from everlasting to everlasting he is the same He is the Lord of creation

P.4) Prayers are either individual or corporate the effect is the same the only difference been that scripture tells us that corporate prayers  are more likely to be answered speedily as they carry more weight due to the number of agreeing voices in Gods heavenly court of petition, because Jesus said so.
(It is interesting that people  sometimes want to know why must we as Christians do this or that? The answer is simple if Jesus said (power of the spoken word) it should be like this that should be enough (Faith).\

Confession
C.1) Confession is a key element in receiving the answer to prayer; it is also an action that the Christian takes to make the prayer more effective. Imagine getting ready to go to a business meeting in your gardening clothes.
At the same time expecting the people you are meeting to invest in your new business venture but you appear at the meeting looking like a gardener (The only time this would be acceptable would be if you were running a garden service).
C.2) Confession is good for the soul it is said and this is true because it relieves you of stress from keeping things bottled up inside you. Bearing in mind that you need to be careful that you should confess (conditional) to your brethren, someone in the church who is spiritually mature and has discretion.
Actions

Actions, determine what will happen in your prayer life, your relationship with Christ and your fellow believers.
